The cost of Frame

Built this little 5″x7″ frame over the weekend.  It is made from the same barnwood as the bear frame except this has been hand planed down revealing an amazingly beautiful oak grain.  I especially love the knot at the top center of the frame.  It’s all these little “imperfections” that catch my eye.  Mitered corners, rabbeted inlay, and finished with Tung Oil.  It will make a nice gift for a close friend.

Lesson learned:  when using staples as the method to secure the backing be sure to angle staple inward as not to split out the wood when bending them outward to change picture.   It happens…
